Do you know the difference between Scallions and Green Onions? Green onions are immature onions which will form a bulb if allowed to, while scallions generally do not form bulbs.

This crop of scallions is in its peak now so start thinking up some scallion dishes to celebrate, here's one we've been enjoying!

These are new additions to our garden and they're ready to be ordered now

  • Socrates Cucumber - A great fresh eating cucumber

  • Addis Pickling Cucumber - It's pickling time!

  • Chantenay Carrots - Great fresh but very well suited to pickling or canning. It's wide shape makes cutting easier and more consistent.

  • Romano Purpiat - A Romano type bean (flat pod), Purple when raw turns to a brilliant jade green when cooked, about five inches in length.

  • Compass Green Bean - These super petite green beans make great additions to salads and anywhere you want green bean flavor.

This week we noticed several Western Tiger Swallowtail Butterflies flying around the garden and spending lots of time in our blooming Artichokes and Day Lilies. This type of butterfly is frequently found near streams and woodland areas. For more information on these pollinators check out butterfliesandmoths.org

We will continue to donate 10% of coffee and tea sales to the Equitable Giving Circle, which from their website, "aims to build immediate and increased equity throughout Portland’s BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) communities through a combination of fund development and network building opportunities that center economic equity." We feel strongly about supporting our local community, farmers and access to fresh produce for all.
